Arbroath walking football club were invited back to Gayfield on Saturday for another match-day experience, this time it was to play Carnoustie.
The teams play during the half time interval, it gives them a chance to showcase what walking football is all about. Despite the wet, wintry conditions, both teams had an enjoyable time.
Carnoustie finished the game as the 4-2 victors.
Thanks to all at Arbroath FC for giving us the chance to play in these game.
Many thanks to Graham Black for the permission to use his pictures in our gallery
Just a quick question having seen your photograph – do you not insist on shin pads up there for friendly or competitive games? We don’t in internal sessions but do recommend if we’re up against teams we don’t know very well. Not criticising, just wondering. We play a lot of three touch like you do in Scotland and we aim for non-contact although obviously some contact can and does occur.
Cheers
Alan
Hi Alan, thanks for your comment. Some competitions do insist on shin-pads. However, they are optional at our own sessions and in the league we play in. In this particular match, both teams know each other quite well, so it was an individual player decision whether to wear them or not.
